FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN AND NEAR ARCHIE CREEK FIRE AREA

September 18, 2020 1:50 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for areas within and near the Archie Creek wildfire, east of Glide.

The Watch is in place for between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters said showers and thundershowers will deliver locally heavy rain across the Cascade foothills. This may result in debris flows in the vicinity of steep recently burned areas.

Forecasters said a Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, which is a dangerous situation.

People, structures and roads located below steep slopes, in canyons and near the mouths of canyons may be at serious risk for rapidly moving landslides.
