DOWNTOWN ROSEBURG PARKING PERMITS AVAILABLE

Downtown Roseburg parking permits are now available for purchase at Roseburg City Hall.

A release from the City of Roseburg said downtown residents and employees can purchase a permit by contacting the Finance Department at 482-6710.

It said parking permit fees range depending on lot location. Companies who purchase permits for their employees can qualify for a bulk discount if purchasing more than ten permits at one time. A limited number of permits are issued for each parking lot and each permit is issued on a first come, first serve basis. For an application, go to www.cityofroseburg.org.

The City of Roseburg owns and manages five parking lots in downtown: the Flegel Center lot, Court Street lot, downtown parking garage, Phillips Street lot and Shalimar lot. Each lot contains a select number of parking spots for those who are either residents and/or work downtown.

At the end of March, the City cancelled its contract with Park Smart, who had provided parking enforcement services in downtown Roseburg. Since then then a parking consultant has been hired to help revamp the downtown-parking program. A Stakeholder Advisory Committee is working to oversee the development of a new parking program, which will be implemented next year.

The release said until that new parking plan is in place, the City will be issuing the parking permits in the downtown area. The Roseburg Police Department will begin enforcement of the City-owned lots soon. Vehicles parked in those lots without a permit may be cited. To avoid a citation, vehicle owners should obtain a permit as soon as possible.
