Staff with Douglas County Senior Services and its volunteers are continuing to serve and deliver meals for Glide area seniors from the senior dining site at the Glide Community Center on North Umpqua Highway, during the wildfires.
An update from county government said hot meals are available for pick up via a curb service format, with meals delivered to seniors who are homebound through the Meals on Wheels program. All seniors age 60 and up and their spouses can receive hot meals or sign up meal delivery. Curb side service is Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The hot meals are delivered on the same days. There are also options for pre-packaged meals for non-delivery days.
The update said the program is in desperate need of more volunteers to help prepare and serve meals at any of the dining sites, as well as deliver meals to seniors who are homebound. Contact Senior Services at 440-3677 to volunteer.
