SAVING GRACE STARTS FREE MOBILE PET FOOD BANK

September 16, 2020 3:15 a.m.

Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center has started a free mobile pet food bank.

Executive Director Megan Gram said the non-profit will give out pet food for anyone in need the third Wednesday and the first Saturday of each month from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Park in Roseburg. That means Wednesday is the first day of the program.

Gram said no one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets. She said they have more than enough pet food to share, thanks to a generous donation from Science Diet and donations from the community.

Gram said there is no requirement to show proof of need. Pet owners simply need to show up during those two hours to receive the food. Saving Grace will be parked near the popular train, in the park. There will be a limited amount of food to distribute each week, so it is a good idea to arrive early. Anyone with an urgent need can come directly to the shelter Mondays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Gram said the program is designed to help keep pets happy, healthy, and most importantly, in their homes with their families. Gram said Saving Grace hopes to implement more programs like this in the future.
