The Archie Creek Fire burning east of Glide is now at 107,000 acres with zero percent containment.

A release from Northwest Incident Management Team 9 said the French Creek Fire to the north is approximately 400 acres and is in patrol status. It did not merge with the Archie Creek Fire.

Management Team 9 is coordinating suppression efforts with the Umpqua National Forest, the Roseburg Bureau of Land Management, the Douglas Forest Protective Association, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue.

Fire managers are continuing to assess the work. They are working with local fire departments on point protection and with local loggers on construction of control lines.

The release said about 3,000 people from Glide and surrounding areas have been evacuated.  The cause of the Archie Creek Fire remains under investigation.
