AIR POLLUTION ADVISORY EXTENDED THROUGH NOON ON MONDAY

September 10. 2020 2:20 p.m.

An Air Pollution Advisory for central Douglas County and a wide area of southern Oregon has been extended through 12:00 p.m. on Monday.

The Advisory said wildfires burning in the region, combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy to hazardous levels. It said when smoke levels are hazardous, all residents should take steps to protect themselves.

Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, can aggravate heart and lung diseases, and can aggravate other serious health problems.

When smoke levels are high, people should:

*Avoid outdoor activities and stay inside if possible. Keep windows and doors closed.

*Be aware of smoke in the area and avoid places with the highest levels.

*Use high efficiency particulate air filters.

*Those with heart disease, lung disease or asthma should consider leaving the area if smoke levels are hazardous.
