STAR MOUNTAIN FIRE AT 300 ACRES

Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and local fire agencies are dealing with a new fire start east of Glide near Susan Creek Road.

Kyle Reed said the Star Mountain Fire is north of Highway 138 East and is estimated to be 250 acres in size. Several spot fires south of the highway and the North Umpqua River are estimated to be 50 acres in size, bringing the fire total to 300 acres as of 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Reed said three helicopters, a large air tanker, and two single engine air tankers are providing aviation support for the ground resources working on the blaze. Additional aviation and ground resources have been ordered for the incident.

The cause of the Star Mountain Fire is under investigation.
