FRENCH CREEK FIRE UPDATE AS OF 6:00 a.m.

Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and the Glide Rural Fire Department responded to a fire approximately one-mile northwest of Glide late Monday evening.

Kyle Reed said the first engine to arrive reported a 20-acre fire burning on light, flashy fuels. Reed said strong winds fanned the flames which is estimated to be 300 acres as of 6:00 a.m. Tuesday. Three bull dozers and numerous engines are engaged on the fire. A strike team of structural firefighters and equipment from various Douglas County fire departments are heading to the fire to offer assistance with structure protection. The cause of the French Creek Fire is under investigation.
