The French Creek Fire northwest of Glide was estimated to be at 450 acres as of mid-morning Tuesday.

Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said crews have stopped the forward spread of the fire and have dozer line around the majority of it. Reed said a lot of work remains to keep the fire in check due to gusty winds and low relative humidity readings. A helicopter is on the scene working to cool hot spots. and pockets of fuel around the edge of the fire while ground resources continue to deal with the blaze.

Reed said residents should avoid the area.
