A home in Drain was heavily damaged by an early morning fire on Sunday.

David Adkisson of North Douglas County Fire and EMS said at 4:45 a.m. crews were dispatched to a report of a possible fire inside the garage of a single-story residence in the 500 block of Alta Vista Avenue. Adkisson said dispatch was able to confirm that all residents had evacuated. Fire personnel could see the flames up to a quarter of a mile away while in route.
The first engine to arrive found the garage fully involved with the fire rapidly spreading to the rest of the house. Crews started their initial attack to stop the fire from spreading. Additional personnel arrived including help from Oakland Rural Fire and South Lane Fire and Rescue.
Adkisson said after an hour of battling the fire, its forward spread was finally stopped and mop up began.
The cause of the fire and the estimated cost of damages is under investigation.
