A fire burned approximately a half-acre of grass on Thursday afternoon.

Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said that fire was three miles northwest of Winston. Crews from DFPA and the Lookingglass Rural Fire Department responded shortly before 1:00 p.m. to a mowed hay field near the 11,000 block of Lookingglass Road.

Reed said an aggressive initial attack quickly stopped the forward spread of the fire. Firefighters remained on the scene of the Lookingglass Road Fire until 2:30 p.m. mopping up hot spots and securing control lines. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
