Friday is a special day in Roseburg.
That proclamation was issued at Monday’s Roseburg City Council Work Study Session.
Dan Bain retired from the News Review on Monday, capping off a 43-year career in local media that also included 15 years at KQEN Radio, 20 years at KPIC-TV, and four years in public relations as well. Bain turned 70 on Thursday.
In his proclamation, Mayor Larry Rich said Bain has a reputation in the community for always being fair in his coverage of the news.
Bain came to Roseburg in 1976 to work in the sporting goods department at Montgomery Wards, which was in the building now occupied by Clint Newell Auto Group. He started at KQEN part-time and moved into a full-time role in 1977, doing news and sports. Bain moved to KPIC-TV in 1992 and was on television until 2012. After some work in public relations, he came to the News Review as a reporter four years ago.
Mayor Larry Rich said he proclaimed the day in recognition of Bain’s many contributions to the community, and urges all citizens to honor him Friday, on Dan Bain Day,
