Douglas Electric Cooperative has a planned power outage for customers in Camas Valley, Tenmile, Lookingglass, Melrose and Umpqua starting at 12:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Todd Munsey with the utility said that means the entire south area of Douglas’s system will be down, which will affect over 4,000 members. The outage will last for approximately four hours with power being restored at around 4:00 a.m.
Munsey said the reason for the outage is that their power supplier, the Bonneville Power administration, needs to replace a transformer in their Lookingglass metering station. He said Douglas will take advantage of that outage, to perform necessary upgrades to their Lookingglass substation.
