The Douglas County Republican Party is having a couple of events on Friday to kick off the 2020 fall campaign season.

Party Chair Valynn Currie told News Radio 1240 KQEN a rolling rally to celebrate the nomination of President Donald Trump for his second term in office will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the former K-Mart store on Stewart Parkway. Currie said those participating will drive through Roseburg with American flags and Trump flags as well.

At noon, a rally will be held on the lawn in front of the Douglas County Courthouse. Speakers will include State Senator Dallas Heard, and GOP candidates Kim Thatcher and Jo Rae Perkins, who are running for Secretary of State and U.S. Senate respectively.

Currie said Umpqua Valley Republican Women will be giving away free ice cream as long as it lasts, courtesy of Umpqua Dairy.
