AIR QUALITY ALERT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING

August 27, 2020 1:30 p.m.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and the southern Oregon Cascades, along with much of south central and south eastern Oregon, through Saturday morning.

An update from the National Weather Service in Medford, said the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory for Klamath and Lake counties as well.

Wildfires burning in the region combined with the forecast conditions are causing air quality levels to fluctuate, and they could be at unhealthy levels.

The Alert said pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and lung diseases and aggravate other serious health problems. Residents in the impacted areas should limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky.
