An accident involving a truck and a power pole resulted in a power outage in the Drain area that began early Wednesday morning.
A report from Oregon State Police said the accident took place at about 1:20 a.m. when a moving truck headed eastbound, left the lane of travel and overturned, blocking the eastbound lane, about a mile east of Drain. The driver told a trooper that he swerved to avoid hitting a deer that ran across the roadway. Douglas County Public Works and staff from the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to assist with traffic control. It appears the driver and a passenger, were not injured.
Information from Douglas Electric Cooperative said the wreck resulted in just over 300 customers of the utility being without power. That includes people between Drain and the tunnel on Highway 38.
Todd Munsey from Douglas Electric said the truck was removed around 6:00 a.m. Munsey said power was restored just before 12:00 p.m.
