The Douglas County St. Vincent de Paul Society will be distributing boxes of fresh food on Tuesday morning.
Mike Reese of the non-profit, said Roseburg St. Vincent de Paul will be distributing boxes from the parking lot of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, at the corner of Stewart Parkway and West Harvard. Boxes of food will be given out starting at 7:30 a.m.
Sutherlin St. Vincent de Paul will have boxes of food at the group’s thrift store beginning at 8:00 a.m.
In Myrtle Creek, food will be given out from the parking lot just past Tommy’s on Old Highway 99 near the covered bridge, starting at 7:30 a.m.
People in need can go to one of those locations and simply open their trunk, and the food will be placed inside.
The boxes are part of the Farms to Families Federal program from the United States Department of Agriculture. The Catholic Church in western Oregon received a grant to help in the distribution of the boxes to the less fortunate.
The local St. Vincent de Paul Society is open Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the campus of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Call 680-0680 for more information.
