An Excessive Heat Watch remains in place for much of southern Oregon this weekend.

An Urgent Weather Message from the National Weather Service said dangerously hot conditions are expected with the mercury around 105 degrees for the Umpqua, Rogue, Applegate and Illinois valleys.

Forecasters said extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Warm overnight temperatures around 70 degrees will provide little relief in buildings without air conditioning. Significant heat could continue into Monday.

Forecasters said residents should monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on the situation.
