MYRTLE CREEK WATER CUSTOMERS ASKED TO CONTINUE CONSERVING WATER

August 12, 2020 4:20 a.m.

Officials with the City of Myrtle Creek are continuing to ask water customers to conserve, following a water main break discovered Monday night.

A video from City Administrator Sean Negherbon posted on social media late Tuesday afternoon, said the break has been repaired and the water plant is back in production. Negherbon said water tank levels remain low. He is asking that the water conservation order stay in effect. Negherbon asks that there be no unnecessary use of water, such as washing cars.

Negherbon thanked the Public Works staff, some of whom dealt with the situation for over 30 straight hours. Negherbon also thanked the Tri City water plant where operator Brian Kelly also worked straight through the situation, producing additional water which was sent into Myrtle Creek’s system.

As Myrtle Creek’s water tanks slowly fill, Negherbon is asking that the conservation of water continue “until further notice”.

More information is expected later from the City of Myrtle Creek.
