Staff with Douglas Electric Cooperative have announced a scheduled power outage.
Member Services Director Todd Munsey said the outage will affect those getting power from the Camas Valley, Tenmile, Lookingglass, Melrose and Umpqua substations.
Munsey said around 4,000 members will be affected. The outage will last for approximately 4 hours starting at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday August 29th.
Munsey said the outage will take place as the utility’s power supplier, the Bonneville Power Administration, needs to replace a transformer at the Lookingglass metering station. He said doing it in the middle of the night will have the least impact on members. Douglas Electric will also take advantage of the outage to perform some necessary upgrades to their own equipment, as well.
Munsey said the northern part of the Douglas service area, including Sutherlin, Oakland, Yoncalla, Elkton and Scottsburg to the coast, will not be affected by the outage. Members with questions should call 673-6616.
