Everyone can fish for free in Oregon this Saturday and Sunday.
A release from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said no fishing licenses or tags will be required to fish, crab, or clam this weekend. The release said all other fishing regulations will apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions.
There are special restrictions still in place on the coast due to COVID-19. Currently, clamming and mussel harvesting is closed to nonresidents coastwide. Crabbing is open to nonresidents along most of the coast, but is closed to nonresidents in the Columbia River and in ocean areas north of Cape Falcon. A few other clamming and crabbing closures are in effect. Go to: https://myodfw.com/recreation-report/crabbing-clamming-report/marine-zone for more information.
Those fishing are asked to practice social distancing, wear a mask, wash their hands often and stay home if sick.
