The American Red Cross is continuing blood drives this week in Douglas County.

A release from the group said the need for donations is urgent, to prevent another blood shortage.

Blood drives will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Red Cross Blood Donation Center on Garden Valley Boulevard. Other drives are:

*Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in Reedsport.

*Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Myrtle Creek.

Those who are healthy, feeling well and eligible to give blood or platelets should make an appointment as soon as possible. Go to www.redcrossblood.org or call 800-733-2767 to get signed up.
