Wildland fire fighters are continuing to respond to illegal and escaped campfires around the Umpqua National Forest.
Mark Turney of the Forest Service said crews also responded to a new holdover fire in the Mt. Thielsen Wilderness on Saturday.
Turney said a crew from the Diamond Lake Ranger District was dispatched to that wilderness and began to search for the reported smoke with an air attack plane from the Rogue-River Siskiyou National Forest. The fire was located and firefighters contained and suppressed it before hiking out of the wilderness.
The fire danger rating is High with Public Use Restriction 1 remaining in effect, in the Umpqua National Forest.
