DFPA DROPS FIRE DANGER LEVEL TO MODERATE

August 6, 2020 11:10 a.m.

Cooler wet weather has allowed the Douglas Forest Protective Association to drop the fire danger to Moderate effective immediately throughout the Douglas District.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said the Industrial Fire Precaution Level will remain at IFPL 3. Reed said the change in fire danger is expected to be short-lived as warm and dry conditions are forecast to return to the area by the weekend.

Reed said under DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions, these activities are prohibited between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. under a Moderate fire danger rating:

*The cutting, trimming or mowing of dried or cured grass. This restriction does not apply to the mowing of green grass, or for the commercial culture and harvest of agricultural crops.

*The cutting, trimming or mowing of dried or cured grass. This restriction does not apply to the mowing of green lawns, or for the commercial culture and harvest of agricultural crops.

*The use of power saws for non-industrial purposes.

*Any non-industrial improvement or development taking place on private property that utilizes power driven machinery not specifically mentioned in the Public Use Restrictions.

Reed said all other restrictions listed under DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions remain in effect and unchanged. A complete list of those restrictions is posted at www.dfpa.net.
