The number of COVID-19 cases in Oregon, the test positivity rate and the number of deaths, is all on the rise.

On Wednesday, the Oregon Health Authority released its COVID-19 Weekly Report.

During the week of July 27th through August 2nd, OHA recorded 2,278 new cases of COVID-19, up slightly from the previous week’s tally of 2,241. In addition, 39 Oregonians were reported to have died, up from last week’s total of 27.

The percentage of tests that were positive increased from 5.1 percent to 6.4 percent. Hospitalizations also rose to 141, up from the previous week’s 127.

The report said the age group with the highest incidence of reported infection continues to be those between 20-29 years old. Rates decrease in subsequent decades of life. Most cases continue to be “sporadic”, meaning that no source for the case was identified, according to the report.
