TRANSIENT JAILED FOR CANYONVILLE BURGLARY

August 5, 2020 10:40 a.m.

A transient was jailed for a burglary in Canyonville on Tuesday night.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just after 7:30 p.m. a deputy responded to the 100 block of Reed Street. The victim reported that 60-year old William Hogg had kicked in his front door, punched him several times, and then smashed out his front window. The victim said the man was there over a property issue.

A deputy located the suspect nearby and said he was not willing to cooperate or talk about what had happened. Hogg said he had never been at the house and had been sitting where he was found, for the past hour.

The report said videos from the home proved otherwise.

Charges included first degree burglary, harassment and second-degree criminal mischief. Bail was set at $258,750.
