A missing Roseburg man has been found deceased.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies located the body of 22-year old Austin Wilkison on Tuesday afternoon.
O’Dell said Wilkison was reported missing by concerned family members. He had last been seen on Friday night. Through the course of the investigation, deputies learned that the man was possibly despondent and could be in the mountains near Glide. Search and rescue teams along with timber deputies began searching for Wilkison.
Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m. deputies received information that the man’s vehicle had been previously observed by a bear hunter in the area of the Canton Creek Campground near Steamboat during the course of the weekend. O’Dell said the hunter saw the missing person flyer and contacted DCSO. Deputies responded to the area and found Wilkison’s vehicle with him inside.
The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting a death investigation. O’Dell said there is nothing suspicious about Wilkison’s death at this time.
