A Florence man was jailed after allegedly trying to elude police on Sunday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 12:15 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations in Winchester Bay. The report said the pickup failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle traveled to North Bay Drive then made the loop back off Highway 101 before going south again and out the Trans Pacifica Road to the New Carissa Sand Road where the pickup got stuck just before the sand.

The 32-year old driver was taken into custody. He was detained for attempting to elude police and for a warrant, and was held without bail.
