Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Douglas County Fire District No. 2 suppressed a grass fire Tuesday evening near the Winchester Dam Fish Ladder.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said the Fish Ladder Fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. The fire burned 1/10th of an acre of grass and brush before crews stopped the forward spread of the fire. Firefighters remained on the scene for about half an hour, mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.

Reed said a preliminary investigation indicated the cause of the Fish Ladder Fire was cigarette related.
