This Thursday is the World Day Against Human Trafficking and a local event is planned.
Information from Mercy Foundation said Roseburg’s event is in support of and in partnership with the Rise Up Initiative by Operation Underground Railroad.
Violence Prevention Specialist Marion Pearson said supporters will gather alongside Garden Valley Boulevard in front of Fred Meyer. Pearson said those attending should bring a family friendly awareness sign and wear blue, which is the awareness color of all forms of human trafficking. Pearson said participants should wear a mask as physical distancing will be in place.
The event will take place twice. From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Marion Pearson talked about human trafficking on the Morning Conversation Tuesday on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com
