Governor Kate Brown will discuss COVID-19 health and safety metrics for school districts on Tuesday afternoon.
A release from Brown’s office said Oregon school districts are currently developing plans for the upcoming school year using Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance from the Oregon Department of Education. The Oregon Health Authority, working with ODE and the Early Learning Division, has developed a set of COVID-19 metrics for school district operating decisions for the fall.
The release said the metrics are based on the number of COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate per capita, both on a county and statewide level – setting requirements for when its safe for in-person instruction to resume, and when the level of COVID-19 spread in a community would warrant a transition to comprehensive distance learning.
Education and health officials will join Governor Brown for the presentation at 1:30 p.m. A livestream is available to the public: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1faDKrNohpU&feature=youtu.be.
