Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and other agencies dealt with the Spring Brook Road Fire on Sunday night.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said at around 6:20 p.m. a fire that started in a travel trailer spread to two vehicles and an outbuilding then to the surrounding vegetation, near the 1,200 block of Spring Brook Road, two miles northeast of Myrtle Creek. Reed said the fire was slowly moving up a hillside when firefighters arrived.

Reed said crews quickly contained the wildland portion of the fire in large part due to fire reduction work that had been completed on the property in years past through the Firewise USA program.

Reed said the fire burned 1/10th of an acre of wildland fuels. The two vehicles and the outbuilding were fully consumed by the fire. The travel trailer also sustained extensive damage. Firefighters remained on the scene of the Spring Brook Road Fire until 9:00 p.m. mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.
