The American Red Cross has a number of blood drives scheduled in the next week.

Information from the organization said summer is historically a season of fewer blood drives and lower donor turnout due to school breaks and travel. While this summer looks different, the dip in blood inventory remains as hospitals resume surgical procedures and blood drive cancellations continue as some businesses and community organizations remain closed or have limited appointments.

Appointments for giving blood are required. Call 800-733-2767 or go to www.redcrossblood.org to get scheduled. Upcoming blood drives include:

*Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Roseburg Blood Donation Center on Garden Valley Boulevard

*Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the City of Oakland offices on Locust Street

*Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sutherlin Community Center on Willamette Street

*Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Roseburg Blood Donation Center on Garden Valley Boulevard

A number of blood drives are scheduled for August as well.
