TRANSIENT JAILED AFTER ALLEGEDLY ELUDING POLICE

A transient was jailed after allegedly trying to elude police on Sunday.

Captain Kurt Sorenson of Sutherlin Police said at about 11:10 a.m. 21 old Devin Goodman was contacted by an officer in the area of West Central and Comstock. Sorenson said the officer had knowledge that the suspect was wanted by his probation officer.

Sorenson said the suspect ran from the officer, going through back yards and over fences. The suspect continued to elude on foot and was eventually caught in the back yard of a residence in the 1300 block of Sunset Lane.

Goodman was charged with two counts of attempting to elude on foot, for disorderly conduct and for a parole violation. He was detained without bail.
