CALIFORNIA MAN JAILED FOLLOWING GUN SHOP BURGLARY

A California man was jailed following a gun shop burglary and police chase on Sunday night.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 9:00 p.m. 911 dispatchers received a report that a man had broken into a gun shop in the 100 block of Storage Way in Myrtle Creek and was loading his vehicle with firearms and ammunition.

O’Dell said as deputies were responding, a Myrtle Creek Police officer observed the suspect vehicle leave. Deputies attempted to stop the driver, but he accelerated and headed southbound on Interstate Five. The suspect led law enforcement on a pursuit and briefly got away. A short time later, the suspect vehicle was observed in a pullout near milepost 97.

O’Dell said K9 Ozzy assisted in taking the suspect into custody as the man ran into the freeway.

29-year old Dejan Sebastian of Los Angeles, was detained on ten charges including two counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of first-degree theft, attempt to elude police in a vehicle and on foot, reckless endangering and for disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $365,000.
