INDUSTRIAL FIRE RESTRICTIONS INCREASE FRIDAY

July 16, 2020 4:05 a.m.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association will increase the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to IFPL2 on Friday.

It applies to all private, county, state, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands that are protected by DFPA.

Kyle Reed of the DFPA said the IFPL is a set of fire restrictions for industrial operators and other forest workers who are working on forestlands. During an IFPL2, these industrial activities are prohibited between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

*The use of power saws, except at loading sites

*Feller-bunchers with rotary saw heads

*Cable Yarding

*Blasting

*Cutting, grinding or welding of metal

In addition, a fire watch of at least two hours is required during IFPL2, once work has been completed for the day. Reed said some private landowners or public land management agencies may require a longer fire watch on lands they own or manage.
