A Roseburg man was jailed following an assault incident on Tuesday.

A report from Roseburg Police said at about 12:00 p.m. 51-year old Lewis Craft and a female victim were involved in a physical disturbance at a camp in Gaddis Park near the river bank. Craft allegedly punched the victim several times, knocking out a tooth and bloodying her nose. He also reportedly menaced the victim with a wooden club and strangled her when she was down on the ground.

Craft was charged with strangulation, menacing and for fourth-degree assault. He was initially detained on $102,500 bail.
