The Diamond Lake Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest is temporarily closing a section of the North Umpqua Trail from Wednesday through Friday.

Mark Turney of the Forest Service said the Marster’s segment is being closed to place a steel culvert and add new surface rock to replace a bridge, which was previously destroyed in a fire.

Steve Marchi, Umpqua National Forest Engineer, said the contractor has been working to reduce the time of the closure. He said the contractor expects to have it finished on Friday and reopened to the public on Saturday.

No traffic will be allowed through the project site.
