The excavation for the foundation of a new gymnasium at Douglas High School is scheduled to begin the week of July 27th and a ground breaking ceremony will be held.

A release from the Winston-Dillard School District said the event will mark the beginning of the new construction portion of the project. The board of directors will have the ceremony on Tuesday July 28th at 10:00 a.m. near the excavation site.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a large group of people cannot be invited. Only a few people that can socially distance will be accommodated. The event will be recorded and possibly streamed live, with the ceremony posted to the district’s Facebook page

The construction is being funded by the Go-Bond #10-169 which was passed by voters in the district, in May of 2019.
