Umpqua Public Transportation District has picked up a number of grants.
A release from the Oregon Department of Transportation said the funds are coming from the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration.
UPTD is receiving:
*Nearly $691,000 in a Surface Transportation Program grant to replace 6 vehicles in its fleet.
*$255,000 in a bus expansion award
*$40,000 for operational funds
*Just over $30,000 for a digital mobile radio system
UPTD General Manager Cheryl Cheas said there are a number of exciting projects in process. More information is expected soon as UTrans bus service transitions from being part of the Umpqua Community Action Network to being its own district.
