WINSTON LIBRARY IS OPEN, HOLDING SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The Winston Library is open and will begin its summer reading program on Thursday.

Director Rebecca Rard told News Radio 1240 KQEN the theme is “Imagine Your Story”. She said the focus will be on fairy tales, mythology, folklore, and fantasy genres. Rard said reading of any genre is highly encouraged and children will be able to turn in reading logs for tickets they can spend on prizes at the library.

Eight events are scheduled that are free to the public with giveaways and contests taking place throughout the summer.

Summer programs will be Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. and will feature:

*June 25th: Joe Ross, musician

*July 2nd and July 9th: Collaboration with Kid’s Art Spark!

*July 16th: Tyee Outdoor Experience

*July 23rd: Victoria Carnat, artist

*July 30th: Emerson Hall, magician

*August 6th: Winston Police Department, Officer Sandi and K9 Buster

*August 13th: Paula Y, Talk About Trees

Rard said to keep patrons safe during this time of COVID-19:

*Hand sanitizer is available at the main entrance and those entering are asked to use it

*Masks are not required but are strongly encouraged

*All library materials will be sanitized upon returning, before being placed into circulation

*Occupancy and social distancing measures are in place

*Families are asked to stay together while at the library

The library is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is located at 440 Southeast Grape in Winston. Call 679-5501 for more information.
