A Roseburg man was arrested after allegedly menacing his girlfriend with a firearm on Sunday.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after 12:00 p.m. dispatchers received a call from a female stating that her boyfriend was brandishing a firearm and threatening to kill her. O’Dell said deputies were able to get the woman to walk out of the house to a safe location where they interviewed her.
Deputies learned that 55-year old Shayne Dudley had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and later retrieved a firearm, which caused her to fear for her safety.
O’Dell said deputies contacted the suspect by telephone. He cooperated with law enforcement and walked down the road to deputies where he was taken into custody, according to the release. DCSO later recovered the firearm in question.
Dudley was charged with menacing and for unlawful use of a weapon. After arraignment, bail was set at $7,500.
