Oregon’s historic Old McKenzie Pass Highway, Highway 242, reopened for the season on Monday.
A release from the Oregon Department of Transportation said motorists driving on the curvy road need to be aware that there are also bicyclists and pedestrians on the roadway.
Vehicles longer than 35 feet are prohibited from using the highway. The first route over the McKenzie Pass became a seasonal scenic highway in 1962 with the completion of the Clear Lake-Belknap Springs section of OR 162.
The release said ODOT has established the first Monday in June, as a tentative permanent opening day for motor vehicles to allow all users to plan activities on the highway.
