A Roseburg man was jailed for second degree disorderly conduct by Roseburg Police on Monday night.
An RPD report said at about 6:00 p.m. officers responded to Gaddis Park after the 56-year old was said to be in the area harassing young children during baseball practice. When an officer tried to contact him, the suspect allegedly hid an opened blade knife at his hip before turning and running towards the river. At one point, the suspect stopped at one of the fields and asked the officer to shoot him because he was not giving up his knife.
The report said the man refused to comply with officer’s commands and eventually made his way down an embankment where he “slashed” his knife towards officers presumably to keep their distance. After a short standoff, and with the assistance of multiple agencies and K9 Ozzy, the man finally complied and was taken into custody.
