A California man was jailed Sunday night in relation to a large-scale drug investigation.
Lieutenant Rick McArthur of the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team said DINT had been looking into the activities of 34-year old Wesley Gutierrez. McArthur said the Harbor City, California resident had been traveling to Roseburg in recent weeks. Detectives contacted the suspect in the 300 block of West Harvard at about 11:15 p.m. DINT executed a search warrant which allegedly revealed a little more than 8 pounds of methamphetamine.
Gutierrez was charged with unlawful delivery and possession of meth. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are likely. Bail was set at $500,000.
McArthur said 8 pounds is an extremely large amount of meth. He said the average user only uses approximately 1 gram. That means over 3,700 grams was seized in this case.
