A Sutherlin man was jailed after a stabbing in Sutherlin Sunday night.
Chief Troy Mills of the Sutherlin Police told News Radio 1240 KQEN that just before 8:30 p.m., 44-year old Erick Garcia was in the front yard a two-story duplex where he lives in the 800 block of West First Avenue and was challenging a 25-year old man to a fight. Mills said a physical altercation broke out and Garcia allegedly stabbed Tyler Wilson in the abdomen with a pocket knife.
Garcia was arrested and charged with second degree assault and for unlawful use of a weapon. He was detained on $300,000 bail.
Mills said the victim’s injuries were not life threatening and he was treated and released at a hospital. Garcia was released from custody on Monday.
