FIRE SEASON UNDERWAY IN THE UMPQUA VALLEY

June 15, 2020 4:00 a.m.
Fire season is officially underway in the Umpqua Valley.
The declaration from the Douglas Forest Protective Association, the Umpqua National Forest, and the Bureau of Land Management imposes certain fire restrictions on both the general public and industrial operators to help prevent wildfires.

In addition to the fire season declaration, both DFPA and the Roseburg District of the BLM have implemented Public Use Restrictions as well. The Umpqua National Forest already went into Level 1 Public Use Restrictions at the start of the month. While the restrictions do not prohibit access to the forest, they do restrict certain fire prone activities which are known to start wildfires, according to a release from the agencies.

Kyle Reed of DFPA will go in-depth about fire season on Wednesday’s Inside Douglas County, on News Radio 1240 KQEN.
