O’SHEA CREEK FIRE NEAR CANYONVILLE

June 11, 2020 3:50 a.m.

Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and the Canyonville-South Umpqua Rural Fire Department responded to a natural cover fire Wednesday afternoon approximately three miles southeast of Canyonville.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said the fire was sparked by a downed powerline. Firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 3:00 p.m. and stopped the forward spread of the fire. Reed said crews had to wait for the power company to arrive and de-energize the powerline before they could fully contain the blaze. The O’Shea Creek Fire burned about 1/10th of an acre.
