Starting Monday, staff with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 will be flushing and maintaining fire hydrants in their service area.
That includes the communities of Dixonville, Green, Melrose, Winchester, Wilbur, Garden Valley, Umpqua and unincorporated areas near the City of Roseburg. Testing will be conducted daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Water discoloration is possible throughout this process depending on how bad the sediment on water mains is, and how long the hydrant has to flow.
Regardless of how it may appear, the water is safe to drink, according to a release. Those who experience issues with their water during this time, should allow it to run through the faucet until it clears.
Anyone with questions about the process can contact Fire District No. 2 at 673-5503, or go to www.dcfd.org.
