The driver was hurt when a tanker truck crashed on Friday morning on Highway 138 West northwest of Sutherlin.
A report from Oregon State Police said just after 9:15 a.m. the driver of the westbound vehicle said he swerved to miss a deer that ran out in front of him, causing the accident. The report said the vehicle appeared to have rolled at some point and was leaking diesel. It had 1,400 gallons of diesel when the wreck took place. The driver, a 64- year old Oakland man, was taken to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries.
Witnesses at the scene told News Radio 1240 KQEN that another tanker had to come drain the diesel, before the rig could be towed from the scene.
